How We Rebuilt the School and the Help We Had

Image
An honest account of the year just past — the original programme it all grew from, the Arcana courses drawn out of it, the four new doorways, and the part that artificial intelligence played in the work. For a while, Helios was quieter than it should have been. The teaching was sound and the lineage intact, but the school as a thing you could actually walk into — a clear set of doors, a path whose shape you could see — had drifted out of focus. This past year, a small group of us set out to rebuild it properly. What follows is an account of how we did that, because we would rather you heard it from us than guessed at it. What we started with We did not begin from nothing. At the heart of Helios is the original First Degree — a three-year intensive programme I wrote between 2009 and 2012, built entirely on the Qabalah, NLP and the Tarot. It ran for years, and the people who came through it gave us something you cannot buy: honest feedback, cohort after cohort, on what truly landed and w...

What this School is, and is not

Image
If you spend any time looking into esoteric study, you quickly notice how loosely the words are used. Mystery school, initiation, ancient wisdom, the Western tradition: the same phrases cover everything from serious lifelong disciplines to weekend workshops promising to unlock your hidden powers. So it is a fair and sensible question to ask of any school, including this one. What kind of place is it, actually? Here is an honest answer, and the clearest way to give it is to begin with what Helios is not. Helios is not a path to quick transformation. We do not promise peak experiences, awakenings, or a new you by the end of a programme. That kind of promise sells well, and it is almost always false. The changes that matter in this work are slow, structural, and mostly undramatic, and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling the feeling of progress rather than the thing itself. Helios is not a belief system. You are not asked to accept a set of doctrines on trust, or to believe in anythi...

Why the Work is Slow

Image
Anyone who looks seriously at esoteric study runs into the same quiet objection before long. Why does it take so long? And then, if a school offers to do it faster, the opposite worry arrives just as quickly. If this can be compressed, is something being cut? Both questions deserve an honest answer rather than a mystical one, and the honest answer begins with a distinction. Some of the slowness in this kind of work is necessary, and some of it is not. A serious school should be able to tell you which is which. Start with the slowness that is not necessary. In the lineage we come from, the First Degree was once a work of some five years. A great deal of that time went not into the teaching itself but into the slow, unaided clearing of personal obstacles: the emotional knots, the inherited patterns, the self-limiting beliefs that sit between a person and the work. For most of the tradition's history there were no good tools for that clearing. You lived with it, worked at it, and wait...

Harmonising Mind, Heart, and Spirit: The "Keepers of the Flame" Programme

Image
In the quest for spiritual ascension, the ancient Egyptians understood that harmony between the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual dimensions of being was not just an ideal—it was a prerequisite. At Helios, we continue this tradition, offering a coherent and integrated approach to growth that weaves the wisdom of the ancient Egyptians with the realities of modern living. Nourishing the Temple: The Physical Aspect The journey begins with the physical body, the temple that houses all other states of being. Ancient wisdom advocates for a supportive diet and exercise regimen that aligns with your unique constitution, promoting vitality and strength. At Helios we don't push one diet over another, we encourage you to listen to your own body and understand what's right for you.  Emotional Alchemy: Transmutation of the Heart Emotional turmoil can often be the heaviest chain that binds the soul, limiting its ascension and dampening its vibrational frequency. Our curriculum delve...
